Review, Hi-Rise Newspaper, March 2005:
Anita Daher's novel, Flight from Bear Canyon, is a highly enjoyable adventure story set in the Northwest Territories. Kaylee, having been home schooled, is used to being on her own or with her mom. Her mom wants Kaylee to get to know, and perhaps become friends with, a girl of similar age. So Kaylee is spending the summer with her mom's friend Jack, and his daughter Jaz. As in Daher's earlier novel, Flight from Big Tangle, Kaylee will face an emergency that calls upon her to fly a plane. Kaylee's delightful dog, Sausage, is back too. Daher knows how to keep readers interested to the very end, and does. These could very easily end up among a child's favourite novels. Highly recommended. For ages 8 to 11. (Orca Book, $7.95).
